For weekend watching ~ Anatomy Of A Scandal A political scandal involving an affair, an accusation of rape, an Oxford days dark secret involving the current Prime Minister and lots of courtroom drama. The plot is ridiculous, the dialogue is stilted and there are bizarre fantasy-esque scenes which come out of nowhere and others where the camera dips and dives. BUT—ham fisted and clunky it may be, it’s also deliciously glossy and stylish, and while it might feature the ridiculous prettiness of Rupert Friend, Sienna Miller and Michelle Dockery, the real runaway stars of the show are Sienna’s chic, minimalist, to-die-for wardrobe and her Mayfair house which is GORGEOUS. Seriously worth watching for this alone. Open a bottle of wine and derive lots of enjoyment from poking fun at all the silly bits.

And reading ~ The Thirteenth Tale Diane Setterfield Perfect for some spooky fall vibes, this is the story of biographer Margaret Lea who is summoned by the reclusive author, Vida Winters, to write her story. There’s a ghost, a governess, a topiary garden and unsettling twins, Adeline and Emmeline. Set in an isolated house on the fog shrouded moors of Yorkshire it’s an absorbing, good old-fashioned yarn filled with twists and turns and one which weaves Vida’s narrative alongside that of Margaret’s. Dark and thorny and deeply satisfying.
