~If you re-subscribed to HBO for the final season of GOT and haven’t cancelled yet, watch Gentleman Jack. Set in 1830’s Yorkshire, England it’s the extraordinary true tale of charismatic Anne Lister (played brilliantly by Suranne Jones of Doctor Foster), landowner and lesbian who refuses to even court the idea of marrying a man to keep up appearances. Instead, she bulldozes her way through society doing exactly as she pleases, which happens to include wooing the local heiress. It’s a cheeky show in which Anne struts boldly about to the accompaniment of a jaunty music score and impeccably timed glances at the camera.
