~If you missed the fab hats at Ascot last week, take a butcher’s, here, here and here.
~And while we’re on the subject of the Royals, there’s perfection and then there’s taking an hour to iron a sheet.
~This review of Trader Joe’s new products, courtesy of Bon Appetit, is laugh out loud hilarious.
~There really are no words for this craziness.
~And this craziness? Wow. Plenty of words. None of them good.
~How is this even possible?
~Pulled by the allure of great packaging I recently bought these chips. Fabulous chips, amazing flavours. Bubbly and Serrano Chilli. Italian Cheese and Port. I have yet to get my hands on the Rosemary and Truffle, but you better believe I will. Available at your local Harrods, Fortnum and Mason, Harvey Nichols and in my case Fresh Market and World Market.
~Eat your very English crisps watching A Very English Scandal. A three part mini-series based on the life of Jeremy Thorpe, a leading politician of the late ’60’s, early ’70’s, who sidelined his career when he conspired to commit murder. His victim? Norman Scott, his young, rather erratic ex-lover. Yes, this is a tale of homosexuality at a time when homosexuality was illegal and gay men chose suicide over being outed. Hugh Grant is brilliant and perfectly cast as the smug and charismatic Thorpe while Ben Whishaw dazzles as the vulnerable, mercurial Scott. Power, passion and political intrigue told with a jaunty air and a touch of camp which somehow manages not to bury the essentially sad and bigoted tale at its core under all of its dark humour. Pure genius.
